Are Self-Pay benefits and screens available to employees who are not on my PMI (private medical insurance) scheme?
You can choose whether to offer the self-Pay benefits to all employees or just those on your PMI scheme.

How can I make my staff aware of this offer?
We have produced membership handbooks which can be provided to all of your employees.

Do Self-Pay benefits apply to family members?
The Platinum Choice self-Pay benefit is available to spouses whether or not they are part of the company PMI scheme.

Will the company know that an employee has used a Self-Pay product?
No, patient confidentiality will be maintained and we will only record how many employees from a particular company have accessed discounted treatment under our Platinum Choice scheme.

If an existing policy already allows for limited maternity care, can I use the Self-Pay discount as well?
Yes, we can tailor our self-Pay discount around an existing corporate PMI (private medical insurance) scheme.

Why aren’t consultants’ fees included in the Self-Pay discounts?
Consultants are not employed by HCA but have admitting rights to practice at our hospitals and therefore submit their own bills separately.

Are there any limitations to the chauffeur service?
The chauffeur service will transfer the patient to hospital and bring them home again by car. It applies to all overnight stays, but does not extend to outpatient visits or day case treatment.

Do employees’ families also qualify for Platinum Choice membership benefits?
Yes, provided the family members are also members of the private medical insurance (PMI) scheme. If they are not, they will still be entitled to the self-Pay benefits.

How do we know that member discounts are being applied?
Each company registered for Platinum Choice has a unique code which is integrated into our central billing system. As long as the employee shows their card each time they visit an HCA hospital and contacts the Platinum Choice helpline in advance, the discounts will be automatically applied.

What if a patient is admitted to hospital as an emergency?
For unplanned admissions, it may not be possible for us to provide all your inpatient benefits. However, as soon as you let us know you are a Platinum Choice member, we will apply your benefits where possible.

What happens if a patient requires an ambulance home rather than a car?
A chauffeur-driven car will only be used where clinically safe. Ambulance transportation to support treatment will be provided where appropriate.
